WOCA Master Oil – How to Apply Correctly

1
Prepare the surface
Sand the untreated wood with sandpaper (grit 100–120). Clean the floor with 125 ml Intensive Cleaner mixed with 5 litres of water. Before applying the oil, the floor must be completely dry and free of dirt and grease. We recommend a wood moisture content of max. 12 %. Only apply oil at a minimum temperature of 15 °C.
2
Apply the oil
Shake the oil canister thoroughly before and during use. Mix canisters with different batch numbers before use to avoid colour variation. Apply the oil evenly with a short-pile paint roller over approx. 5–10 m² of flooring at a time.
3
Let it soak in
Let the oil soak in for 5–10 minutes. Apply more oil to any dry spots.
4
Buff the surface
Now buff the surface with a beige polishing pad on a pad holder, or with a floor polishing machine, until the surface appears even.
5
Remove excess oil
Buff the floor with cotton cloths under the pad to remove any excess oil. Continue section by section until the entire floor has been polished. No oil should remain on the surface.
6
Second polish
After 6–8 hours, polish the floor with 1 decilitre of Master Oil per 15 m² of flooring. Carry out this treatment once the oil has hardened, then carefully buff the oil into the floor. Remove any excess oil from the surface.
7
Walkability
Can be walked on carefully after 12 hours.
8
Tool cleaning
Clean tools with WOCA Oil Thinner.
9
Curing time
During the curing period of approx. 3–5 days – depending on air temperature and humidity (ideally >18 °C/64 °F with low to moderate humidity) – do not wet-clean the floor.
10
Care after curing
After the curing period, clean the floor with Wood Floor Soap or Oil Refresher to build up a protective layer on the surface.
Tip for regular maintenance: For regular cleaning we recommend Wood Floor Soap or Oil Refresher, and Oil Care or Maintenance Paste as needed.
