WOCA Master Colour Oil – How to Use

Before you start: Product, room and floor temperature should be 15–30 °C, and wood moisture no more than 12 %. Ventilate well while applying and during drying. The wood must be freshly sanded (finishing with grit 100–120) and thoroughly vacuumed. Clean it with WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner and let it dry for at least 8 hours before oiling. Test on a small, inconspicuous area first.
1
Shake well
Shake the Master Colour Oil container thoroughly before and during use. Mix containers with different batch numbers beforehand to avoid colour variation.
2
Apply the oil
Apply it evenly and generously – with a short-pile paint roller (4–6 mm) over areas up to 10 m², or with a floor applicator or oil roller over 5–10 m² per section.
3
Let it soak in
Leave it to absorb for at least 10–15 minutes; re-oil any dry spots directly.
4
Buff it in
Buff the oil into the wood until the surface looks saturated. Use a buffing machine with a beige pad for larger areas, or a polishing cloth/pad by hand for smaller ones.
5
Remove the excess
Remove excess oil with dry, lint-free cotton cloths or pads until the surface no longer looks wet. Keep going until the whole area is polished and every bit of excess oil is thoroughly removed.
6
Second coat for full saturation
For good saturation, polish the surface again within 12–24 hours of the first coat, at 20 °C, using 1 dl of Master Colour Oil per 10–12 m²/L – buffed in thoroughly as described in steps 4–5.
Curing & aftercare: The floor can be walked on carefully quite soon, and is fully cured at 20 °C and 55 % humidity after 7 days – only place rugs or similar on it after that. Don't wet or clean the floor during these first 7 days. After that, clean it with WOCA Natural Soap, which also gives the surface extra protection.
