WOCA Hardwax Oil Swift – How to Use

Before you start: Product, room and floor should be at a temperature of 15–30 °C and around 50 % humidity; wood moisture must not exceed 12 %. Ventilate well because of the drying time and fumes. The floor must be free of dirt, grease, wax and dust – sand previously treated floors back to bare wood with grit 120–150, vacuum thoroughly and, if needed, wipe with a well-wrung, damp cloth. Hardwax Oil Swift is ready to use straight from the container. Test on a small, inconspicuous area first.
1
Stir well
Stir Hardwax Oil Swift thoroughly before and during use. Mix containers with different batch numbers beforehand to avoid colour variation.
2
Apply a thin coat
Apply a thin coat of oil with a short-pile roller (3–4 mm) or similar, working in the direction of the grain, and spread it out well.
3
Let it dry
Let the floor dry for 4–5 hours at 20 °C. Drying time depends on temperature, humidity and the amount applied – lower temperature and/or higher humidity can extend it.
4
Repeat if needed
If a second coat is needed, repeat the treatment (steps 2–3) within 24 hours. On surfaces that were already oiled before, one coat is usually enough.
Curing & aftercare: The freshly oiled floor can be walked on carefully the next day and is fully cured under normal room conditions after 7 days. After that, the floor can be cleaned with WOCA Natural Soap or WOCA Oil Refreshing Soap, which also gives extra protection. For the best adhesion on already-oiled floors, lightly sand them with a bordeaux pad before applying a new coat of Hardwax Oil Swift.
