WOCA Invisible Oil Primer – How to Use

Before you start: Product, room and floor temperature should be 15–30 °C; ventilate well while applying and during drying. The wood must be freshly sanded (finishing with grit 100–150) and thoroughly vacuumed. Clean the floor with WOCA Intensive Wood Cleaner and let it dry for at least 8 hours before applying the primer. Test on a small, inconspicuous area first.
1
Shake well
Shake the Invisible Oil Primer container thoroughly before and during use. Mix containers with different batch numbers beforehand to avoid colour variation.
2
Apply the primer
Apply the primer in an even coat with a short-pile paint roller. Work section by section, no more than 20 m² at a time.
3
Let it sit briefly
Leave the primer to absorb for a maximum of 5 minutes.
4
Buff it in
Buff the primer into the wood until the floor looks saturated, using a buffing machine with a beige or bordeaux pad. Change the pad regularly so primer doesn't build up on it.
5
Remove the excess
Remove excess primer with dry, lint-free cotton cloths until the surface no longer looks wet.
6
Let it dry
Let the floor dry for 3–4 hours at 20 °C. Drying time depends on temperature, humidity and the amount applied – lower temperature and/or higher humidity can extend it.
7
Light sanding
Lightly sand the dry surface with a bordeaux pad or a fine sanding pad, then vacuum thoroughly.
8
Apply Invisible Oil
Finish by applying Invisible Oil, following that product's instructions carefully.
Good to know: Whenever Invisible Oil Primer is used, it must always be followed by a coat of Invisible Oil. After 24 hours, we recommend also treating the primed and oiled surface with Invisible Oil Care to improve the floor's resistance to stains and wear.
