Linseed Oil Varnish – Traditional, Natural, and Timeless
What was once common knowledge is now experiencing a true revival: linseed oil varnish – a nearly forgotten, eco-friendly wood finish that has been used for centuries on wooden surfaces and construction elements, both indoors and outdoors.
In 2015, OLI-NATURA rediscovered a traditional recipe by chance, refined it, and had it certified according to LFGB standards.
At a glance – our Linseed Oil Varnish:
100% solvent-free – made from pure, cold-pressed linseed oil
For interior and exterior use – ideal protection for all types of wood surfaces
Water-repellent & durable – offers long-lasting resistance to moisture and wear
Breathable & easy to maintain – does not peel or crack and can be easily refreshed
Versatile in use – suitable for furniture, doors, countertops, wall cladding, toys, beams, fences, terracotta tiles, and cork
Beautiful finish – enhances the natural grain and gives light woods a warm, honey-colored tone
Food-safe & child-friendly – LFGB-certified, saliva- and sweat-resistant

Application Instructions
The surface must be finely sanded, clean, and free of dust and grease.
Shake or stir the container thoroughly before use.
Apply a thin, even coat of oil in the direction of the wood grain using a brush, cloth, or cotton pad. Reapply oil to any dry spots.
Within 30 minutes, remove excess oil with an oil-absorbent cloth or cotton rag and polish the surface. The surface should feel dry to the touch.
After a drying time of 16–24 hours, additional coats can be applied if needed.
Note: Any oil that is not absorbed by the wood will remain as wet, glossy spots after 30 minutes. This excess must be removed while still wet, as it will otherwise take significantly longer to dry, remain sticky, and cause uneven gloss.
Consumption: 1–3 coats | Depending on the absorbency of the surface, approx. 60–80 g/m² per coat (12–15 m²/l)
Drying Time: Depending on humidity and temperature, the surface will be dust-dry after 1–2 hours and ready for recoating after 16–24 hours. Full curing is achieved after 21 days. Handle with care during this period.
Warning – Risk of Spontaneous Combustion:
Oil-soaked cloths or pads may self-ignite due to heat buildup! Clean them immediately after use or store them submerged in water.
Note: The product itself is not self-igniting.
